LEATHERWOLF Schedules First Southern California Show With New Guitarist
August 12, 2008Legendary Southern California band LEATHERWOLF will perform at the OC Tavern Concert Hall in San Clemente, California on Sunday, August 17. This will be the band's first Southern California appearance with new guitarist Greg Erba. LEATHERWOLF is also scheduled to play the Rock Against Diabetes benefit event on August 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
LEATHERWOLF's video for the song "Dr. Wicked (Rx O.D.)", off the band's current studio album "New World Asylum", can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Karpis Makusdian, who also lensed the group's 2006 video for "Behind the Gun".
"New World Asylum", released on the group's NIL8 label, marks the return of original vocalist/guitarist Michael Olivieri, who had left the band temporarily in 2003 and was replaced by Wade Black (ex-CRIMSON GLORY). The album was mixed by noted Danish producer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, ROB ROCK, MERCENARY) at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark.
"Dr.Wicked (Rx O.D.)", which was inspired by the infamous "Dr. Death" Jack Kevorkian, who was released last year after serving eight years in a Michigan prison for second-degree homicide for aiding in the death of a terminally ill patient, deals with the subject of assisted suicide. "It's a controversial subject matter for sure but one that concerns all Americans and everyone else for that matter," stated co-producer/drummer Dean Roberts. "How do you balance the right to choose when and how you want to exit this mortal coil, which is very much a personal thing, and at the same time safeguard against abuse where individuals may want to play God with your life?"
